SENSE OF LIGHT & DARKNESS
In my study of light & darkness, I wanted to capture the idea of natural light vs man made light and how TRUE LIGHT is light that comes from the world around us from the creator. When we seek TRUE LIGHT in our spiritual, we shine bright, but when we seek light that we try to create ourselves, we are dim.
SENSE OF SPACE
My Sense of Space project is split up into four unique parts.
Part one is a collection of photos taken in my living room. These photos are meant to invoke the idea that a space you spend so much time in and maybe desensitized to, can be something else when looked at a different way.
Part two is a pairing of two photos, each containing portraits a black person and a white person combined. Some people believe that we are all human and race doesn't differentiate us, but these photos show that if we ignore our differences completely we end up with something funny looking.
Part three is a collection of photos showcasing the origins of resources we take for granted. Often times we just buy things from the store, never thinking about the source or where it came from.
The final part is a collection of photos that include me, where I put my self in places I would like to be.
SENSE OF ALIVENESS
My sense of aliveness project contains 5 gif images and stop-motion animation, all telling a part of who I am. The animation highlights the things I carry around in my backpack whenever I am out. Pieces about who I am and what I value can be seen in the things I carry with me. My first GIF animation contains my favorite rapper J. Cole, an artist I aspire to be like so much that I have even grown out my hair like him. The second GIF is of a Pokeball, from pokemon, a game I grew up playing and continue to play to this day. The third features my girlfriend taking her hair out of a ponytail as I often ask her to do because I value naturalness. The fourth is of a painting of a flower, as I love having nature around me. The final two are more dark and are inspired by the song bury a friend by Billie Eilish.
SENSE OF STORY
My sense of story project features twenty photos and a video. During this time in quarantine, I've seen many people freak out about the situation and complain about having to always stay at home. Others have taken this time to be lazy and do nothing. I decided to do the opposite. I have created a space in my parents' basement to stimulate my creativity and productivity. I'm choosing to make the most of this time and create in the chaos.
